Background

Lesley took up post as our first Sexual Violence & Harassment Liaison Manager on 3 August 2020, and is located centrally within the university to provide specialist input and support to staff and students affected by sexual violence and other forms of gender based violence (GBV).

In line with national policy & priorities around tackling disproportionately high levels of abuse on campus, Lesley will work closely with key internal and external partners to provide a single point of contact for survivors of sexual abuse and ensure that they are supported with a range of trauma informed mechanisms, interventions and services. By ensuring that those affected by forms of abuse are identified and supported in their choices , will enable the university to provide a timely and comprehensive victim led response and advocacy service, as well as communicating to the wider community that perpetrating any form of abuse is unacceptable.

Lesley has under & post graduate degrees from this university and has worked across a number of sectors on GBV issues, including the third sector specialist services; local & national government; NHS Lothian & The Health Directorate and was Chair of The Edinburgh Violence Against Women Partnership for many years, establishing a range of projects and initiatives to support victims and tackle perpetrators behaviour.

Lesley is an all-weather cyclist and relaxes by teaching yoga locally and more favourably abroad in exotic locations!
