Background

Lee worked for 5 years in finance, the last three as a macro credit analyst at the Royal Bank of Scotland, covering credit markets during the European sovereign debt crisis. This spurred him to want to understand more deeply economic crises and the interactions between financial markets and the real economy. As a result he started a Masters in Economics at the Toulouse School of Economics, moving to UCL for an MRes in Economics a year later, before coming to Edinburgh for his PhD. He previously earned a 1st class undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of York.

Research summary

Lee's research interests lie in the intersection of macroeconomics and finance, in particular understanding financial crises and policies to help prevent or recover from them.
