Rotating Intern in Equine Medicine and Surgery

Background

Lara graduated as a vet from Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) in 2021. Before qualification, she completed multiple traineeships in equine practice (medicine, surgery, reproduction, anaesthesia, and sports medicine) as well as externships in Spain, Belgium and Ireland. During her final year, she conducted a research project on equine cardiology, that was presented at the Annual Equine Spanish Veterinary Conference.

She practised ambulatory equine clinic for a year with a road vet who she started to work once qualified and also worked as an auxiliary stud vet for a half season. She moved to Ireland where completed a rotating equine internship at Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital and was selected as part of a national competition to present a case report at the Irish Equine Veterinary Association Conference 2022. She worked as an internal medicine fellow at the same hospital for the 2023 breeding season afterwards. Her main interests are internal medicine, anaesthesia and sports medicine.
