Background

Gary is a Teaching Fellow in Physical Education, contributing to teaching on the MA (Hons) Physical Education programme and postgraduate modules on the MSc Education course. 

He completed a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Gloucestershire (2005-2009). After graduation, Gary was a Cover Supervisor/PE Technician at a secondary school in Cornwall before heading to Loughborough University, where he completed a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) in Physical Education in 2012. After achieving QTS status, Gary spent the next 11 years teaching Physical Education at a secondary academy and sixth form in Southwest England before pursuing a career in higher education at The University of Edinburgh. During this period, he completed his MSc in Education (2012-2014) and his PhD at Loughborough University (2015-2022).
