Background

Graduating in 2014 with a First class BSc (Hons) from Caledonian University in Glasgow, Laura took up a Research Technician role in the lab of  Professor Paul Shiels Laboratory within the Wolfson Wohl Cancer Research Centre working on an industry collaboration with GSK. In 2017 she moved to the Paul O’Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre in the University of Glasgow to begin PhD studies under the supervision of  Dr Xu Huang  developing novel small molecule inhibitors of fundamental epigenetic regulators and fully characterising their phenotype as a monotherapy or in combination in the treatment of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. Graduating in December 2021, she joined the lab of Professor Javier Caceres at the University of Edinburgh MRC Unit for Human Genetics in 2022 as a Research Fellow, working on RNA processing mechanisms in human disease.
