Dr Francesca Baseby

Research Services Manager

Background

Based at the Centre for Research Collections and St Cecilia's Hall Concert Room & Music Museum, Francesca Baseby is responsible for services that provide in-person and online access to the University’s heritage collections across campus. She delivers research skill training focusing on object-based learning and material culture. Her PhD in History of Art at the University of Edinburgh examined collaborative practices between tapestry weavers and artist-designers at Dovecot Studios in the mid-twentieth century.

Previous positions include Arts Development Officer (Aberdeenshire Council), Gallery Manager (Dovecot Studios), Tutor (School of Design, ECA) and Project Assistant (Scottish Stained Glass Trust). She is the Honorary Treasurer of the CILIPS (Chartered Institute for Library and Information Professionals Scotland) and a Trustee of Small Steps Foundation.
