Background
Donald Rutherford was educated at Oxford University. After a short sojourn in the City of London as an investment analyst and financial journalist he came to Edinburgh University.
A wide range of teaching has enabled him to acquire an extensive knowledge of economics, the basis for a dictionary of economics and other reference works.
His principal interest is the history of economic thought, especially Scottish economics.
