Background

Started my PhD in Clinical Psychology at The University of Edinburgh in September 2021 after completing an M.Sc. in Health Psychology from Centre for Health Psychology, School of Medical Sciences, University of Hyderabad, India. Before that I completed B.A. (Hons) in Psychology from University of Delhi, India. Have publications in social sciences journals & have presented papers at national and international conferences. Recipient of Professor Deepak Bhat best paper presentation award in the 54th National & 23rd International Conference of Indian Academy of Applied Psychology (IAAP) held at Department of Psychology, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, India.

Research summary

Research interests focus on Suicide and Self-harm behaviours among youth who belong to diverse communities. My PhD aims at identifying the risk factors for suicide & self-harm among populations that indicate social diversity such as race & ethnicity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, refugees & migrants. The objective is to explore whether status is associated with suicide risk among youth.

Current research interests

Suicide & self-harm; self-destructive behaviours; diversity; social determinants of mental heath; emotion dysregulation; risk & resilience.
