Background

Austin Tate is Emeritus Professor of Knowledge-Based Systems at the University of Edinburgh. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng), Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE), Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of AI (FAAAI), Fellow of the European Association for AI (FEurAI) and Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS). He was Director of the Artificial Intelligence Applications Institute (AIAI) from 1986 to 2019. His research interests are in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Virtual Worlds.
