Current research interests

Dr Anastasia Yang (Annie) is the Forest and Peatland Academic Manager, within the Social Responsibility and Sustainability (SRS) Department, at the University of Edinburgh. She is responsible for coordinating learning, teaching and research opportunities throughout the university, in relation to the restoration of peatlands and forests sites across Scotland, which are integral components of the university's carbon sequestration efforts

Past research interests

Annie has worked as an academic for over 10 years, specialising in the interdisciplinary exploration of socio-environmental dynamics, particularly within forested landscapes in Scotland and the Global south. Her interdisciplinary expertise has enabled her to contribute to diverse international environmental research projects, with multinational teams. In Annie’s previous role in the UKRI South Asia Nitrogen Hub (SANH), she coordinated comprehensive evaluations of policies and engaged stakeholders, fostering dialogue and collaboration to address critical environmental challenges in the South Asia region. Notably, Annie's research often incorporates participatory action research methods, enabling a deeper understanding of perceptions and values regarding land use practices.
