Background
Maria Ines graduated from the University of Tras-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD) in 2014. After graduating, she worked in a small animal hospital in the North of Portugal and then completed an academic small animal internship at the teaching hospital of UTAD. She eventually moved to East Yorkshire where she worked in a first opinion small animal hospital for a year. Her interest in cardiology grew stronger and in order to pursue this, Maria Ines undertook a rotating internship at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists, followed by a cardiology internship at Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists.
Maria Ines completed a Cardiology residency at the University of Edinburgh between 2019 and 2022. After finishing the residency, Maria Ines stayed at the University as a Lecturer of Cardiology.
Maria Ines loves every aspect of medical and interventional cardiology and is very excited to contribute to this beautiful field of veterinary medicine.
