Ways to remember, honour and celebrate your loved one’s life.
When someone you love dies, the sense of loss can cause a profound sadness. It can, at times, feel almost overwhelming. It can also be difficult to know where to start when thinking about a special way to remember, honour and celebrate your loved one’s life.
That’s why we’ll be on hand to answer any of your questions. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to raise money in memory of your loved one, if and when you need us.
JustGiving
One of the easiest ways to fundraise is to set up a JustGiving page. This gives you the opportunity to share your loved one’s story and allows others to share their own messages of love and support, all whilst fundraising for the cause that is special to you and your loved one.
Remembering Alison
Hayley’s mum Alison began to feel unwell in spring 2019. Sadly, Alison’s health progressively deteriorated over the following year, and she was diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) in summer 2020. Devastatingly, Alison died just a month later, on 7 July 2020.
Hayley set up a JustGiving page in memory of her mum, who was also her best friend, to raise money in aid of the National CJD Research & Surveillance Unit, based at the Western General Hospital.

Funeral and memorial collections
Another way you can raise money in memory of your loved one is a funeral collection. You can set up a JustGiving page in advance of the funeral, or the funeral director can organise this for you and send the money to us on your behalf. However you decide to remember your loved one with a funeral collection, please get in touch and we can support you every step of the way.
Collection in memory of Evie Denham-Parkhouse
Evie had the progressive neurological condition known as LCC (Leukoencephalopathy, Calcification and Cysts) also known as Labrune Syndrome. This is a hugely rare degenerative genetic condition which, as well as causing many neurological symptoms in patients (including seizures, progressive loss of speech, function and mobility) also causes life threatening cysts on the brain. Little is understood about the progression of the disease, as there are only approximately 60 known cases in the world.
Evie was just twelve years old when she died. Her parents asked the funeral director to arrange for donations to be sent to Professor Yanick Crow and team who are working to find treatments and maybe even a cure for this life limiting condition.

Tribute funds in honour of loved ones
Tribute funds are a wonderful way to remember and celebrate the life of your loved one in a positive and meaningful way. Some people like to donate on special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries whilst others prefer to organise their own fundraising activities and events. It's also possible to support your tribute fund through regular giving. There is no minimum donation or set length of time for tribute funds – each fund is as unique as the person it is named after. The Lubin Borde Sarcoma Research Fund
Lubin passed away on 7 December 2017 – aged just 14 – two years after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma.
Lubin’s family set up the Lubin Borde Sarcoma Research Fund in his memory, to advance research into sarcoma in general, and osteosarcoma in particular, at the Institute of Genetics and Cancer. Their hope is that the money raised will improve the outlook for future patients and their families.
