Aziz Ozturk

Thesis title: The Authority of Board of Directors to Adopt Anti-takeover Defences in Turkish Law with a Comparative Analysis of German and Swiss Takeover Approaches

Background

Aziz is a last-year PhD candidate in Corporate Law at the University of Edinburgh. With the main focus on corporate takeovers, his research interests include comparative corporate law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and capital markets.

Aziz is an undergraduate law tutor for the Business Entities Law course at the Edinburgh Law School. He is the founder and co-convenor of the Edinburgh Commercial Law Reading Group at the same school. He was also a co-convenor of the Edinburgh Postgraduate Law Conference 2022.

Aziz has been granted the Saltire Early Career Fellowship Award by the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) in 2021 and was a Visiting PhD Scholar at the Institute of Law & Finance, the University of Hamburg between January and July 2022.
