BRE Research Chair of Fire Safety Engineering: Albert Simeoni

Albert Simeoni has been made BRE Research Chair of Fire Safety Engineering.

Albert Simeoni

He is also Director of the BRE Centre of Fire Safety Engineering.

Professor Simeoni has overall responsibility for teaching and research in fire safety engineering within the School of Engineering.

He was previously an associate professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Massachusetts, and an assistant professor at the University of Corsica.

He is a Director of the International Association of Wildland Fire, and a member of the International Association of Fire Safety Science, the Combustion Institute and the Tomsk Scientific Society of Mechanics of Heat Physics and Risk Analysis.

Professor Simeoni’s main research interests are in fundamental aspects of fire dynamics and fire behaviour, focusing primarily on wildland fires.

He also studies the fire dynamics and forensics of other situations, such as fires in enclosures.

His research encompasses experimental, modelling and simulation activities at laboratory scale and full size.

Professor Simeoni’s research background is in combustion, thermal transfer and fluid mechanics. He has a PhD from the University of Corsica and an MEng from the University of Provence.
