Academic excellence recognised in King’s Honours

The work of three University staff has been celebrated in the King’s 2023 Birthday Honours List.

The King’s Birthday Honours are announced each year to mark extraordinary contributions and service of people across the United Kingdom. This year is King Charles III’s first Birthday Honours list.

Inclusivity champion

Dr Audrey Cameron has received the honour of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her role as the Chair of the University’s British Sign Language (BSL) Plan implementation group, her services to Chemical Sciences and inclusion in Science Communications.

As the Chair of the University’s BSL implementation group, Dr Cameron prepared pivotal strategies to support and empower BSL users across Scotland.

Immunology expert

Professor Eleanor Riley has been awarded the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for her services to Immunology. She is a Professor of Immunology and Infectious Disease.

Computer science

Professor Jane Hillston has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to Computer Science and to women in science. She is currently a Professor of Quantitative Modelling and Head of the School of Informatics.
