Christmas closure dates: 2022 and 2023
Christmas closure dates for 2022 and 2023 have been confirmed.
Generally, University buildings close for this period and staff are required to take leave, unless the Head of School or Professional Services has made alternative arrangements. Service providers covering this period publish their opening times separately.
2022
For the 2022 festive period, the University will close at 5pm on Thursday 22 December 2022, and reopen at 9am on Wednesday 4 January 2023.

As some of the Scottish public holiday dates over the festive period fall on a weekend, they have been carried over to the next working day.
Annual leave dates
There are four closure dates during the festive period that will be taken from your 2022 annual leave entitlement:
- Friday 23 December 2022
- Wednesday 28 December 2022
- Thursday 29 December 2022
- Friday 30 December 2022
The public holiday and annual leave days (as well as this year's additional annual leave day for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee) will be bulk uploaded into People and Money by the end of January 2022.
Please note that any new staff member who starts after the bulk upload has been completed will need to book their annual leave, public holidays and closure days as annual leave in People and Money themselves.
2023
For the 2023 festive period, the University will close at 5pm on Thursday 21 December 2023, and reopen at 9am on Wednesday 3 January 2024.
