Experts share research at festival of science

Researchers from across the University are giving insights into their work at a three-day science festival, hosted in pubs and bars across Edinburgh.

Experts are joining more than a dozen events in the capital, as part of the international Pint of Science festival on 20-22 May.

University of Edinburgh researchers will be speaking at pubs across the city each night, including The Tron, The Canon’s Gate, and The Old Bell Inn.

Wealth of subjects

Audiences can expect talks on topics from synthetic biology, palaeontology and intelligent machines to satellite data, astronomy and extreme environments.

Dementia and kidney health are also in the spotlight, alongside a look at how scientific research is carried out.

In its seventh year, Pint of Science features thousands of scientists worldwide, speaking on the festival theme of ‘What Next?’, in more than 300 cities across 24 countries.

The UK arm features almost 600 events in more than 40 cities.

Every science evening features at least two experts presenting their research.

Tickets, costing £4, are available from the Pint of Science website at the link below.

We’re extra excited about the Pint of Science Festival Edinburgh this year. There’s something for everyone, especially if you know nothing about science but have a curiosity for the unknown. This programme of talks is the best yet.
