Global green start-up contest comes to Edinburgh
The world’s largest green business ideas competition is being hosted in Scotland for the first time by the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI).
The ClimateLaunchpad Global Grand Final will see start-ups from 45 countries compete to win up to €10,000 and a place on a prestigious entrepreneur support programme.
The contest in the University’s McEwan Hall takes place on Thursday 1 and Friday 2 November.
It will feature more than 130 cleantech start-up pitches, master classes and talks from high-profile international speakers.
The First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, will give a keynote address on the second day of the event.
University innovation
Three Scottish start-ups supported by ECCI will take part in the contest, including a venture created by an Edinburgh PhD student.
Lorenzo Conti from the School of Engineering developed Crover, a robotic device to measure conditions and reduce waste in bulk grain storage silos.

The ClimateLaunchpad competition aims to unlock the world’s cleantech potential that addresses climate change.
It is part of Climate-KIC, an EU-funded initiative to accelerate innovation that enables a low-carbon future.
Carbon centre
ECCI aims to inform and encourage a move to low-carbon lifestyles.
It seeks to bring business, finance, academia and the public sector together to deliver a low-carbon future.
