Events calendar marks LGBT+ History Month

The University is taking part in a series of events to mark LGBT+ History Month 2017.

Film screenings, discussions, an open mic night and a Valentine’s Day Ball feature in the programme for February.

The University’s Staff Pride Network committee has partnered with EUSA and student societies to organise the calendar of seminars and social events.

The rainbow flag will fly above Old College and Teviot for the month.

Diverse programme

Events include an LGBT+ History Quiz, and screenings of Paris is Burning, Pride and Ghost Empire Singapore.

Also featured is a panel conversation entitled Let’s Talk About the Blood Ban.

Speakers from the NUS, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service, HIV Scotland and the Anthony Nolan Trust will discuss current restrictions affecting blood donation.

There will also be an academic seminar on a new research project, Cruising the 70s.

The University is proud to be involved in LGBT+ History Month and its aims of promoting equality and diversity for the benefit of the public. The University will be visibly demonstrating our support by raising the rainbow flag at Old College and at Teviot House, in partnership with the Staff Pride Network and BLOGS, the University Students' Association’s LGBT+ society.
