Key strategic appointment

The University has appointed Hugh Edmiston as Director of the Corporate Services Group.

Mr Edmiston will take up the role on 1 September. He succeeds Vice-Principal Nigel Paul, who will retire in the summer.

Mr Edmiston is currently College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine Registrar, a position he has held since September 2010.

Prior to this he was Director of Operations at the Roslin Institute.

Wide-ranging role

As Director of Corporate Services, Mr Edmiston will be responsible for the strategic development and efficient delivery of a wide range of the University’s professional, operational and commercially orientated services.

He will have responsibility for a core budget of £54 million, commercial activities of £60 million and around 2,000 staff members.

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Hugh as the next Director of Corporate Services. Hugh is a highly respected colleague who brings with him a wealth of experience and skills relevant to the post. I do not doubt that he will make an excellent Director of Corporate Services and I look forward very much to working with him in that role.
