Gather, which celebrates Edinburgh's diverse international community, will take place from 14 to 22 March.

It has been organised by the International Office in partnership with the Edinburgh University Students' Association (EUSA).

Vibrant mix

A vibrant mix of more than 40 events, all celebrating culture, community and the ethos of global citizenship, is open to staff, students and the public.

Events include:

  • a Fusion ceilidh, blending music styles from around the world with traditional Scottish dance in the McEwan Hall;
  • language exchanges;
  • five-kilometre park run;
  • social change workshops;
  • The World is our Kitchen, inviting staff from different cultures to bring a favourite national or regional dish for colleagues to sample.

Themed events

A number of events will also centre on the theme of tea drinking and its universal ability to bring people together. Outdoor tai chi sessions at Bristo Square and King’s Buildings will be followed with Chai Tea refreshments.

Teams of staff, students and local groups will compete in various sporting events to win the Tea Cup. Staff will also have the opportunity to host their own tea parties.
