Spring into cycling

Staff who cycle to work are invited to attend a series of events throughout February, March and April.

Staged by the Transport & Parking Office, the popular Cycle Roadshows are aimed at cyclists of all abilities.

They offer a range of maintenance and security assistance and advice to encourage cycling at the University. This includes:

  • free bike maintenance (at selected events)
  • free Police security bike marking
  • discounted bike locks
  • free ankle reflectors and puncture repair kits
  • cycle maps and route planning advice.

Road safety refresher

This semester, the Transport & Parking Office is also offering Essential Cycling Skills, a short training session in road safety.

Ideal for cyclists of all abilities, the course lasts 2.5 hours and costs £10. It will be staged a number of times over the coming months. Participants will receive a Gold Standard bike lock each.

Staff discounts

Staff can also benefit from money-saving opportunities.

Gold Standard bike locks are available for £10 from the Transport & Parking Office, and selected Edinburgh bike shops also offer a discount to Edinburgh staff (University ID card required).

In addition, the University’s Cycle to Work scheme allows staff to save 30 per cent on the cost of bicycles and safety accessories.
