Hosts for student interns wanted

The Careers Service is looking for University Schools and departments to host bright, motivated undergraduate students for the University’s summer internship programme.

The scheme, Employ.ed on Campus, is managed and supported by the Careers Service.

It provides undergraduates in their second or third year of study with summer work experience.

Valuable opportunity

Piloted in 2012, Employ.ed on Campus has placed 15 interns on University-based work placements lasting between eight and 12 weeks.

Departments who supported these interns found them to be an outstanding resource on some key projects.

The programme is to expand this year but the focus will still be on providing a quality experience for students and ensuring participating departments receive a meaningful contribution.

The quality and detail I received in the final report from my intern was at least equal to what I've seen from a junior consultant on projects of a similar length (without the higher associated costs of an external consultant). For me there was the added advantage that the intern had good knowledge of the University.
