The roadshows, run in partnership with Lothian Borders Police and the Bike Station, are being held to help cyclists prevent bicycle theft.
Discounted locks
What we’re finding is that the majority of bikes being stolen are locked but they are either not locked properly or the locks just aren’t good enough.PC Carol MenziesNeighbourhood Area Crime Prevention Officer for Lothian and Borders Police
Anyone who attends the roadshow will have the opportunity to purchase a high-quality Sold Secure Gold Level D lock for £10. The locks usually retail for around £40.
The Sold Secure Gold Level D lock has been recommended by Lothian & Borders Police.
Roadshow details
The cycling roadshows also offer the opportunity to:
- get your bicycle security marked
- have your bicycle checked by Dr Bike
- raise any security concerns with experts.
The roadshows will take place at three University locations throughout March.
Cycle roadshows are a great way for us to speak to our cyclists, address their concerns and provide them with the information they need to minimise the chance of them becoming victims of crime.Adam ConnChief Security Officer
