Spring into cycling

The University is offering a number of cycling courses and schemes this spring.

Maintenance courses

In partnership with the Bike Station, the University has arranged free bike maintenance courses for staff and students on 30 and 31 May, from 5pm to 7pm.

Taught by qualified instructors, these two-hour courses will cover fixing punctures, gear and brake repairs and general bike upkeep.

Commuter training

The University has organised free cycle training days for staff and students on 11 and 25 June, from 9am to 5pm.

Cycling Scotland instructors will provide cyclists (including new and returning) with the skills and confidence to tackle everyday road conditions.

Candidates will be able to:

  • check their bike is safe to use
  • make minor adjustments and carry out simple roadside repairs
  • plan and undertake an independent journey

Bicycles+, the University's cycle-to-work scheme, is open to staff all year round.

It offers employees the option of hiring an adult bike and safety equipment over a 12-month period, free of tax and National Insurance, by way of a salary sacrifice.
