Procurement service awarded

The University of Edinburgh has been honoured for outstanding achievement in procurement.

The procurement team

The University’s Procurement department was named GO Team of the Year at the 2011/12 GO Awards Scotland.

Collaboration and innovation

The GO Awards Scotland, organised by BiP Solutions, are the only awards dedicated to public procurement in the region.

The Team of the Year prize rewards teams which have delivered on collaboration, innovation, best practice, and have showed a real sense of team ethic.

Value for money

The University’s 18-strong Procurement team is responsible for encouraging and promoting best procurement practice, aiming for value for money and sustainability.

The team has provided a consistently successful and highly effective procurement service to the University over a number of years.

This year, the University increased its already sector-leading score in the Scottish Government Procurement Capability Assessment (PCA) from 78 per cent to 84 per cent.

The percentage of expenditure that the team influences also increased this year by seven per cent.

Procurement also earned Investors in People accreditation in June 2011.

It’s fantastic to win the award on behalf of the whole team because we are a procurement team which has done really well in recent years, in increasing our influence, increasing our efficiencies and delivering sustainable procurement.
