The annual awards honour the contribution made by finance directors towards the success of their respective organisations.

Challenges

Jon has managed the University's finances through the recession and the subsequent reduction in public funding.

He has led the financial aspects of the negotiations for the mergers of the Roslin Institute and Edinburgh College of Art into the University.

Leadership

Under Jon's leadership, Finance has worked to drive efficiencies in financial transaction processes.

This has allowed the department to cope with the 50 per cent growth in the University’s turnover over the last five years, with the minimum increase in staffing.

Externally, Jon is deputy chairman of UMSR (the UK universities' terrorism mutual), which has 109 institutions as members with covers valued in excess of £60 billion.
