Academic Registry's new era

As the University welcomes thousands of new students, the Academic Registry enters its first academic year in its new form.

Formerly known as Registry, the support service changed its name earlier this year to Academic Registry to reflect structural and operational changes to the department.

Five units

The Academic Registry now comprises five units. These are:

  • Academic Services
  • Student Admissions and Curricula Systems
  • Student Administration Services
  • Scholarships and Student Funding Services
  • Timetabling and Room Booking

The remit across all five services is broad, ranging from academic governance to systems support and financial guidance to timetabling services.

The Academic Registry also offers traditional functions such as administering information, advice and policy on student records, examinations, registrations, matriculations and graduations.

The teams based within each of the five units are available to support all academic and support staff, where appropriate.

Student support centre

At the start of the year, the University opened a revamped Student Centre to accommodate the new Academic Registry.

The new centre was designed to provide a welcoming and professional environment accessing Academic Registry services.

The Centre will be shut during the week commencing 12 September, while student matriculation takes place.

It will open again on Monday 19 September.

Additionally on 26 September the Academic Registry will close at 1pm , while the Old College quad is officially opened by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal.
