Procurement team nominated

The University’s Procurement Office has been shortlisted in the THE Leadership and Management Awards 2010.

The University of Edinburgh's Procurement Office

It is one of six university teams nominated in the Outstanding Procurement Team category, the first year that this category has been awarded.

Highlighting achievement

The awards highlight the achievements of the teams involved in running UK universities.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 17 June.

Major tenders

The University’s Procurement Office, a team of 16, has been responsible for a number of achievements throughout 2008/09.

Our procurement specialists led more than 40 major tenders.

Most of these were above the Official Journal of the European Union threshold, bringing compliance and measured efficiencies (both casheable and non-casheable).

We extended eTenders and eProcurement to help our buyers and suppliers.

Superior service

The Procurement Office’s performance received an ‘exemplary’ score when assessed against the Higher Education Funding Council for England’s model.

When independently reviewed on the Scottish Government Procurement Capability Assessment, it was ranked ‘superior’.

This nomination is recognition from the community we serve that a professional procurement team does add value to delivering research, teaching and commercial excellence and social responsibility strategies, whether in major equipping, building projects or day-to-day IT, lab or office consumables.
