Award for the Principal

The University’s Principal Professor Sir Timothy O’Shea has received an award in recognition of his leadership.

He was presented the 2009 CASE Europe Leadership Award by Professor Sir Duncan Rice, Principal Emeritus of the University of Aberdeen and Chair of the CASE Europe board of Trustees.

Leadership recognition

He was awarded the accolade in recognition of the leadership ability he’s demonstrated throughout his career, notably through achievements while at Edinburgh.

This includes creating the position of Vice-Principal for Development in 2002, which was at the time a move that was unprecedented in Europe.

Prior to his appointment as Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh, Professor Sir Timothy O’Shea held leadership positions at the University of London, Gresham College, and the Open University.

Professor Sir Timothy O’Shea is passionately committed to helping students gain access to a quality education and has worked assiduously to enhance the image of the institutions he has led by implementing development and marketing programmes.
