Dedicated staff honoured

Long-serving staff members were honoured at a reception held at the Informatics Forum.

Long-service reception

The event recognised the contribution of employees who have been with the University for 25 years or more.

Presentations

Some 120 staff members attended the reception.

Staff were presented with silver pins to mark 25 or more years service, or gold pins in recognition of 40 or more years service.

There are 518 employees at the University who hold a minimum 25 years service.

Shared anniversary

The University’s longest serving members of staff are Gordon Turnbull of the School of Physics and Astronomy and Brian Cameron of the School of GeoSciences.

Both share a 46-year anniversary having started employment at the University on the same day.

It was a very enjoyable experience and one that I will look back on as having been privileged to have been part of. My 30 years of service to Edinburgh University Sports Union seemed nothing compared to the large number of people who have been in service for 40+ years!
