It’s better to share

The University is marking a nationwide car-sharing week by encouraging staff and students to fill their empty car seats if they drive alone to work.

Car commuters are advised that by sharing their journey they will not only reduce their carbon footprint but save money too.

Get involved

Liftshare Week, which runs from 4 to 8 October, seeks to promote the benefits of car sharing.

You can take part, whatever your preferred method of commuting, by joining the University’s Tripshare group.

There is a separate Tripshare group for Easter Bush staff and students.

Win an ipad

Tripshare enables staff and students to search for people within the University community who can share their journey to work.

This month, anyone who shares a journey through the Tripshare group, can be entered into a prize draw for an ipad.

Travel results

Results from the latest staff and student travel survey reveal that 10 per cent less staff are now driving to work on their own, since the previous survey was carried out in 2000.

The results also showed that 50 per cent of staff and students walk to work or study, 21 per cent travel by bus and 11 per cent cycle.
