Counselling marks its 40th

The University’s Student Counselling Service is this year celebrating its 40th anniversary as a full-time facility.

The service is one of the earliest of its kind to be held in a British university.

Reception

The anniversary will be marked at a reception at the annual conference for the Association for University and College Counselling (AUCC), which takes place at the University’s Pollock Halls site.

The AUCC is also celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Accreditation

The Student Counselling Service is led by Susie Jackson who will retire at the end of June after 27 years in service.

It is currently one of only three counselling services in Scotland to be accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Our service has always participated in networks of student counsellors, as well as being embedded in the life and work of the University as a whole.
