Award for Professor Currie

Candace Currie, the University’s Professor of Child and Adolescent Health, has been named a “Woman of Influence” by a leading children’s charity.

Professor Currie was one of 10 women to receive an Action for Children Scotland Woman of Influence Award, commemorating the tenth anniversary of the charity's annual prize.

Remarkable impact

The accolade is presented by Action for Children Scotland to a woman who has made a remarkable impact on Scottish society.

Fellow recipients of this year's anniversary award include bestselling author and University alumnus JK Rowling; violinist Nicola Benedetti; Chief Executive of Culture and Sport Glasgow, Dr Bridget McConnell and sportswoman Liz McColgan.

A leader in child health

Professor Currie is the Director of the University’s Child and Adolescent Health Research Unit.

She is also the International Coordinator for the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children, a research study conducted in collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Europe.

The award recognises Professor Currie’s contribution to the health and wellbeing of young people in Scotland.
