Free bike maintenance courses and cycle training courses are also available at the University this spring.

Cycling equipment hire

Bicycles+ is the University’s cycle-to-work scheme and is now being run with the assistance of Government initiative Cyclescheme.

It enables employees to hire bike and safety equipment, worth up to £1,000 over a 12-month period, by making tax-free payments from their monthly salary.

Courses for cyclists

In partnership with the Bike Station, the University has also arranged free bike maintenance courses for staff on 10 and 18 May from 5pm-7pm.

Taught by fully qualified instructors, these two-hour courses will teach participants about fixing punctures, gear and brake repairs and general bike upkeep.

The University has also organised free cycle training for staff and students delivered by trained cycle instructors from the Centre for Sport and Exercise from 3pm-6.30pm on 4 and 11 May.

Designed by Cycling Scotland, the course equips participants with a riding strategy that can be applied to any traffic situation.

It is delivered both in the classroom and on the road.
