The hospital is part of the University’s Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.

The Easter Bush facility is inviting members of the local community behind the scenes as part of the Midlothian Public Doors Open Day.

Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in 30-minute guided tours, running throughout the day.

Interested members of the public will be welcome from 1pm-4pm.

A busy, working hospital

The Hospital at Easter Bush deals with more than 15,000 patient visits each year.

It operates a referral service for vets for dealing with complex cases, which may require surgery.

It also has a Small Animal Practice and Exotic Animal and Wildlife Service, which includes specialist rabbit clinics.

State-of-the-art teaching facility

The Hospital was built in 1999 and opened by the Vet School’s patron, HRH The Princess Royal.

A £100 million development at the Easter Bush site will also provide a new teaching building and research institute.

This is due to be opened in 2011.
