Divinity memorial garden opens

The School of Divinity officially opened its Alan Robinson Garden at a ceremony attended by Edinburgh’s Lord Provost.

The garden is located behind the School’s administration offices at New College.

It was refurbished following a legacy from alumnus Alan Robinson.

Garden party

Around 250 guests, including staff and Divinity graduates, and their families, attended the ceremony.

Guests were welcomed by the Principal, who congratulated the graduates.

The Rt Hon George Grubb, The Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh, cut the ribbon to formally open the garden.

Alan Robinson (1929–2004)

Alan Robinson was a lecturer and published author.

He graduated from New College in BD Divinity in 1972, and received his PhD in 1974.
