Register online and confirm funding

Registration is the first step of the matriculation process. All campus-based and online students must complete online registration, which includes providing or confirming their funding information with the University.

What you need to do

Fee Information

As part of the registration process, you’ll also be asked to choose how you want to pay your fees — whether that’s paying in full, setting up instalments, confirming any funding we already have on record, or providing new details of sponsorship, loans, or government support. If your funding only covers part of your fees, you’ll need to pay the remaining balance during registration, either upfront or in instalments.

If you’re sponsored or receiving a grant or government funding, make sure you email your proof of funding to fees@ed.ac.uk before you start online registration. If the Fees and Student Support Team doesn’t get your documents in time or can’t verify your funding, you’ll be asked to enter your card details during registration so an instalment plan for your fee payments can be set up.

Email your proof of funding to fees@ed.ac.uk

Student Information

Alongside your funding information you will need to register your personal details with the University. You will be asked to provide some basic information, including:

  • personal and emergency contact details
  • previous qualifications (for new students)
  • confirmation that you wish to accept or decline a programme place
  • confirmation that you have read and accept the University of Edinburgh’s regulations

When you do it

Annual Registration is open to you approximately four weeks prior to your programme start date.

Before this time, you may have been asked to fulfil any additional programme-specific admissions criteria, such as evidence of English language proficiency, organising Disclosure Scotland checks, etc.

If you were not asked to provide anything extra by your School/College as part of your offer, then you do not need to do anything additional to registration.
