The Insights Programme
The Insights programme offers our students the opportunity to connect with alumni and benefit from their knowledge and experience of job sectors and workplaces.
About the programme
The programme aims to encourage short periods of safe and supported career and workplace exploration, to inspire, enhance employability, increase confidence and build networks. It is targeted at students from a widening participation background and in order to remove further barriers to participation, the students selected to take part receive full funding.
There are two strands to the Insights programme:
Global Insights: A week of insight experiences in key cities across the world, with small groups of students visiting alumni in global business locations.
Our current host cities are:
Local Insights: A 2-5 day insight experience in central Scotland, with small groups of students visiting alumni in key sectors.
Hear from participants
In the following video, alumni and student participants talk about their experiences of taking part:
You can inspire our students to make informed decisions about their future by hosting an insight experience in your workplace. Your support will help to kick-start their careers, targeting those who need it the most.
Taking part can also help your organisation build its profile with the University and identify future talent.
We can advise on how to design the insight experience to make the most of the opportunity. This could include meetings and informal discussions, tours of your organisation, or presentations and Q&A sessions. To make it meaningful for students, we recommend a minimum time commitment of half a day.
