The Centre is training the next generation of leaders in applied asthma research, including PhD and MD students, Early Career Researchers, and our Alumni. Funding for these members comes from several sources, reflecting the understanding of the benefit of being part of the Centre.

The Centre hosts a range of postgraduate training and support for current and former members. This includes online and in-person training events covering topics as diverse as medical statistics, patient and public involvement in research, behavioural change, wellbeing, hints and tips for the viva and inhaler technique, among others.

Our alumni

Since our students have completed their studies, our alumni network has been growing. Our alumni have varied roles beyond their PhD or MD studies with us. Many stay in asthma research, but others use their skills in areas such as engineering, psychology, nursing and teaching.

Dr Tracy Jackson carried out her PhD investigating the impact of incentives on implementation of asthma self-management. Involving people in research was always a strong passion for Tracy, so she decided to follow this path, to be part of, and to then become a co-Lead and Senior Research Fellow on the Patient and Public Involvement platform in the Centre. Tracy co-produces research with lay members and facilitates Patient and Public Involvement research discussions.
