Dr Annemarie Docherty has been awarded a Wellcome Trust Career Development Award.

I am sure you will join me in congratulating Annemarie Docherty who has recently been awarded a Wellcome Trust Career Development Award.

Many of you will know that Annemarie’s focus is data driven research. Her first Fellowship was intended to develop novel approaches to using routine data from critical care patients to optimise care, with a focus on cardiovascular management and outcomes. However, during COVID and supported by Wellcome, she pivoted to contribute to the amazing efforts to study COVID19 across the UK. She led and/or contributed to many of the major UK publications that emerged from the various large UK data-driven studies.

Her fellowship will return a focus on using real time data to improve critical care management and outcomes over the next 6 years.

We are so lucky to have so many internationally recognised research leaders in our department in Edinburgh.
