European Union Postgraduate Entry Requirements

Postgraduate entry requirements for students from Germany.

The University of Edinburgh welcomes applications from well qualified students from Germany. For entry to most Postgraduate Taught degrees, the minimum requirement is a good undergraduate degree from a recognised university. Students with a German Bachelor, or with the Diplom, Magister Artium or Zeugnis über den Zweiten Abschnitt der Ärztlichen Prüfung, would normally be asked to achieve a gut or sehr gut classification, or a score of 2.5 or better. The Staatsexamen in Education and Law are also acceptable for entry to most degrees - please contact the relevant admissions office for advice on the minimum grades required.

For entry to Postgraduate Research degrees, the minimum requirement is the Magister Artium/Diplom or Masters degree (1999 onwards).

However, each application is considered individually and you are advised to contact the College Office for further information on admission.
