Major new data and AI computing resource launched to support academic research

The Edinburgh International Data Facility (EIDF) comprises world-class data analytics and storage infrastructure operated by EPCC at the University of Edinburgh. EIDF has now launched the EIDF GPU Service, a new computing resource that supports data processing and the training of AI models.

Available as part of EIDF’s catalogue of resources, the EIDF GPU Service enables users to access the power of NVIDIA A100 GPUs to drive their own bespoke software environments, accelerating and deepening research insights. This resource complements the EIDF Virtual Desktops service, which offers a range of pre-configured virtual desktop machines ready-built with data science toolkits for a variety of uses.

The DDI EIDF GPU Service is available for University of Edinburgh researchers and partners of the Data-Driven Innovation Programme.
