Education panel discussion

The values of higher education and human development will be the topic of a panel discussion on 31 January.

‘What's the University for?: An opportunity to discuss fundamental values of education and human development’ will be hosted by the University’s Chaplaincy, Institute for Academic Development, International Office and students’ association (EUSA).

A panel of experts will speak on key visions for university life. Speakers and topics include:

  • Assistant Principal Sue Rigby, on university vision and funding
  • Liz Bondi and Cecelia Clegg, on care and virtue in university teaching
  • Paul Parvis on John Henry Newman's ‘The Idea of a University’
  • Rector Iain MacWhirter on universities and the social good

The event will be held from 5.30pm to 7pm in the Chaplaincy Centre auditorium at 1 Bristo Square. Refreshments will be provided.
