Originally from Canada, Professor Little obtained a BSc and MSc from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada.

In 1999, Professor Little moved to Basel, Switzerland, where he completed a PhD in Zoology.

He came to Edinburgh in 2000 on a NSERC of Canada Postdoctoral Fellowship.

This was followed by School of Biological Sciences Fellowship (2002-2006) and a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellowship in Basic Biomedical Sciences (2006-2012).

His work is focussed on the evolutionary biology of host-parasite interactions.

Professor Little and his team of students and research assistants perform laboratory experiments designed to determine when populations of hosts will evolve to better resist their parasites, and when parasites might evolve to become less harmful to their hosts.
