Honorary Professor: Ian Maudlin

Ian Maudlin has been made an Honorary Professor.

Professor Ian Maudlin

Maudlin is head of the Department of Tropical Animal Health at the University's Centre for Tropical Veterinary Medicine.

He has a background in tropical diseases.

Professor Maudlin has a PhD from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, University of London.

His research has focused on trypanosomiasis (sleeping sickness).

He is a member of the WHO Expert Advisory Panel on Parasitic Diseases.

From 2000-06, he was the Director of the Centre for Tropical Veterinary Medicine at the University of Edinburgh.

Professor Maudlin has been closely involved with development issues in Africa.

From 1999-2006 he managed the UK Department for International Development (DFID) Animal Health Research Programme.

He has recently been appointed Director of the DFID Research Into Use (RIU) programme.

The RIU is designed to put the results of agricultural and natural resources research into use to reduce poverty and contribute to the Millennium Development Goals.
