Carlyle Conference
The 2012 conference celebrated the publication of 40 volumes of the Duke-Edinburgh edition of 'The Collected Letters of Thomas and Jane Welsh Carlyle'. Durham, North Carolina: Duke University Press, 2012.
The conference was also part of the 2012 programme for the 250th anniversary of the founding of the first Regius Chair in literature in Britain (Hugh Blair, professor of Rhetoric and Belles Lettres, Edinburgh, 1762), being held by the English Literature department, School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures, University of Edinburgh.
The Conference took place in 19-21 George Square, Edinburgh.
It was attended by delegates mainly from Scotland and the US, but also England, Canada, Belgium, Eire, France, Australia and New Zealand.
