Belgium’s place within postcolonial paradigms has often been overlooked. This study day aims to explore the colonial and postcolonial dimensions of francophone literary and artistic practice in Belgium and the Congo. It also aims to reappraise past and present theoretical frameworks in relation to Belgium. What are the challenges posed by these theoretical frameworks? In what ways do theoretical insights from anglophone and francophone settings help to inform our understanding of Belgian paradigms?
