Alwaleed Community Grant Scheme

The Alwaleed Centre for the Study of Islam in the Contemporary World is offering small grants of up to £5000 to help fund creative and dynamic community projects across Scotland.

Overview

The Alwaleed Centre at the University of Edinburgh is a research, teaching and outreach centre which aims to promote a better understanding of Islam and the contemporary Muslim world. Since opening its doors in 2010, the Alwaleed Centre has developed and delivered a major programme of outreach projects that have engaged with a variety of audiences and stakeholders locally, nationally and internationally. The Centre is now delighted to be piloting a community grant scheme aimed at establishing long-term relationships with organisations across Scotland whose work connects with the centre's research and outreach agenda.

The key aims of the Alwaleed Community Grant Scheme are:

• To encourage a better understanding of Islam and the contemporary Muslim world.

• To increase engagement between the Alwaleed Centre and the work of community organisations across Scotland.

• To add value to the work of community organisations across Scotland by connecting them to the University of Edinburgh's expertise and resources.
• To have a positive impact on Muslim and non-Muslim communities across Scotland.

2023/24 Call for Proposals

For the 2023/24 round of grants, we are particularly keen to fund projects which engage with the following themes: 

• Interfaith and intra-faith relations
• Islam and the environment
• Education and skills development
• Digital Islam

If your project does not relate directly to any the themes above but does relate to Islam or Muslim communities more generally, then we would still be delighted to consider your proposal.
