British Meiosis Meeting 2023

The British Meiosis Meeting provides a platform for scientists working on genetic recombination, cell division, and genome evolution in a wide range of (model) organisms to present their research to the scientific community. The majority of speakers will be post-doctoral researchers and post-graduate students selected from abstracts. This meeting will run from mid-day on 19th April until around mid-day on 20th April and will incorporate a poster session and conference dinner. This meeting is open to all researchers with an interest in meiosis and is not restricted to the British meiosis community.

Abstracts (300 words) for posters/consideration for talks should be e-mailed to BMM2023@ed.ac.uk on or before March 19th.

Session themes will include:

  • Generation and Progression of Meiotic Recombination
  • Synaptonemal Complex
  • Meiotic Chromosome Segregation

  • Registration includes access to meeting, light refreshments, lunch (19th April) and a conference dinner (19th April).

  • Principle investigators: £135 (£120 for Genetics Society members)

  • Students / post-docs: £115 (£100 for Genetics Society members)

Travel:

Delegates should organise their own travel. Edinburgh airport and Edinburgh Waverley train station provide good transport links with the rest of the UK and Europe. The conference venue is located south of the city centre at the foot of Arthur’s Seat, and can be reached on foot (30 mins), by bus (20 mins) or by taxi (10 mins) from Waverley train station.

Accommodation:

Delegates should organise their own accommodation. Edinburgh has a large number of hotels and accommodation to suit most budgets. The University of Edinburgh offers hotel accommodation at the conference venue and a 15% discount code for use at the on-site Scholar Hotel or Scott Hotel is available upon registration.
